Never climb that attic ladder for an air filter again.
Every 3 months we come to your home, change your filters, and take care of the small seasonal jobs that keep a house safe: vents, alarms, AC drain lines, outdoor faucets, and more.
How It Works
Three simple steps to clean air and peace of mind.
We measure your home ($49 first visit, $20 back on your plan)
You don't need to know your filter sizes or climb to check. We find your air handlers, record the exact filter sizes and your fridge model, replace up to 2 standard filters on the spot, test your smoke & CO alarms, and take care of the every-visit basics (plus shutting off outdoor faucets in fall or turning them on in spring).
We come back every 3 months
Visits are on Saturdays and some weekday evenings, at the same time each quarter. We email you a reminder the day before, and your online account shows what's planned, what we did, and anything we noticed.
We do the dirty work (usually under an hour)
We put on shoe covers, climb the ladder, and install fresh filters. Then we work through that season's checklist, like flushing your AC drain line in spring or shutting off outdoor faucets in fall, and let you know if anything needs a licensed professional.
What a Visit Does
Three and a half minutes on the small jobs we handle every season, and why they matter for your house.
One Simple Plan
One visit every 3 months, with the filters, the ladder work and a seasonal home care checklist included. You pay after each visit.
The Fort Hunt Plan
Everything below, every 3 months
- Up to 2 standard 1" pleated filters (MERV 8–11) replaced every visit, with return vents vacuumed & wiped
- Dishwasher filter cleaned and AC drip pan & float switch checked dry every visit; metal range hood grease filter cleaned twice a year
- Smoke & CO alarms tested every visit; alarm and thermostat batteries replaced yearly; expiration dates & kitchen/bath GFCI outlets checked yearly
- Fridge water filter changed every 6 months (you buy the filter; we tell you exactly which) and coils cleaned once a year
- Outdoor faucets shut off for winter and turned back on in spring (prevents frozen pipes)
- AC drain line flushed and outdoor AC unit rinsed each spring; sump pump tested (if you have one)
- Dryer lint trap housing cleaned and washing machine water hoses checked for bulges and drips once a year
- Up to 3 hard-to-reach light bulbs changed each visit (you buy the bulbs)
- All ladder work included. We date the new filter, mark the airflow arrow, take the old ones away, and leave a card with your filter sizes
The same checklist in two visits. We leave a dated spare filter for you to slide in at 3 months, and email you when it’s time, so your air stays clean in between.
For 2 heating & cooling systems (up to 4 standard filters) or up to 2 thick 4–5" media filters every 6 months (inspected & cabinet vacuumed on off-cycle visits), plus:
- Whole-house humidifier pad each fall (we bring it), damper and water valve set for the season
- Under-sink, RO & air purifier cartridges changed (you buy them)
- Softener salt carried in, up to 2 bags (you buy it)
- Water heater checked each winter for leaks, rust and drips (a visual check, not a safety inspection)
We confirm it at your first visit: $179 every 3 months, or $209 twice a year.
Don't know what filters your house takes? Don't worry — that's what the first visit is for. We find and measure every filter, record your fridge model, replace up to 2 standard 1" filters, test your smoke & CO alarms, and handle seasonal outdoor faucets. Sign up for the plan and we take $20 off your first plan visit. Or don't: there's no obligation.
Who buys what
Some parts vary too much in price from home to home to include, so you buy those at the store price and we put them in.
The part is in your plan or add-on price.
- Air filters, standard and thick
- Smoke/CO alarm and thermostat batteries
- The humidifier pad (larger homes)
- Sealed 10-year alarms (add-on)
You order and pay; we tell you which one and put it in.
- Your fridge water filter
- Under-sink, RO and air purifier cartridges
- Water softener salt
- Light bulbs
How ordering works: at your first visit we write down the exact part for each one. About 10 days before a visit where one is due, we email you the part number so you can order it in time (or you can set a 6-month auto-delivery with your store so it's always sitting in the pantry when we arrive). Leave it out for us and we'll put it in. If it hasn't arrived, no problem: we'll change it next time.
Good to know & optional add-on prices (prepay discount, extra filters, dryer vents, 10-year alarms)
- Prepay for a year and save 10%: pay for a year of visits up front (4 visits, or 2 on twice a year).
- Additional filter changes beyond your plan: $25 each standard, $65 each thick 4–5".
- Allergy upgrade to MERV 13 filters, where your system supports them: +$10 per filter change.
- Dryer vent duct cleaning: $129 (vents we can reach from the ground or a short ladder; no roof vents).
- Sealed 10-year alarm installation, alarm included: $45 smoke, $79 smoke + CO (battery-powered alarms only).
- Missed visits: if nobody's home and we didn't get 24 hours' notice, there's a $30 fee. We forgive the first one.
- More bulbs: $5 per bulb beyond the 3 included each visit (your bulbs).
- Changing the filters you buy: fridge filter changes are included in the plan, and cartridge changes with the larger-home option; otherwise $15 each.
- Honest schedules: fridge filters, thick filters, and batteries are changed when they're actually due, not every visit.
A Year of Visits
Each season we add the jobs that matter most at that time of year, so visits stay short and nothing gets forgotten.
Air filters that are due (on homes with 6-month thick filters, we inspect the filter and vacuum the cabinet slot at the visit in between), return vents vacuumed and wiped, the dishwasher filter cleaned, and the AC drip pan checked dry. We date the new filter, point the arrow the right way, take the old ones away and leave a card with your filter sizes. We also test your smoke and CO alarms and change up to 3 hard-to-reach light bulbs.
- Flush the AC condensate drain line
- Rinse the outdoor AC unit (once 55°F+)
- Turn outdoor faucets back on (once hard freezes have passed)
- Test the sump pump, if you have one
- Close the humidifier damper and water valve for summer Larger home
- Flush the AC condensate drain line again (July and August are when it clogs)
- Clean the dryer lint trap housing
- Check washing machine water hoses for bulges and drips
- Clean the metal range hood grease filter
- Shut off outdoor faucets and disconnect hoses, by November 15
- Replace thermostat and smoke/CO alarm batteries
- Humidifier pad, damper and water valve before heating season Larger home
- Clean refrigerator coils and the metal range hood grease filter
- Check smoke & CO alarm expiration dates (and replace batteries if fall was missed)
- Test accessible kitchen and bathroom GFCI outlets
- Make sure outdoor faucets are off and hoses are in
- Check the water heater for leaks, rust and drips Larger home
Twice a year? Your spring visit (April or May) covers the spring and summer jobs, your fall visit (October to mid-November) the fall and winter ones, and we leave a dated spare filter in between and email you when it’s time to slide it in. After each visit, your online account shows exactly what we did and anything we noticed that may need a licensed professional.
Right in our backyard: the Fort Hunt corridor of Alexandria, VA
We only serve the Fort Hunt corridor, so we can visit neighbors on the same day and stay on time. We serve single-family homes in ZIP 22308 & 22307.
Why "Fort Hunt Filters"?
The land along the Potomac that became Fort Hunt was once part of George Washington's River Farm. Construction of its coastal gun batteries, including Battery Mount Vernon, began in 1897 to help defend the nation's capital.
We carry that protective spirit forward: guarding your home's air quality, keeping your drinking water fresh, and keeping you off risky attic pull-down ladders.
Respecting Your Home & Your Time

We email you the day before each visit, so it's never a surprise.

Looking after a parent's home?
A lot of our customers are set up by their grown children. Book it for your mom or dad, and they'll never need to get on a ladder or remember a filter size again.
- You book, we arrange the rest. Use your own email and phone, put your parent's address in the form, and say in the notes that you're booking for them. We'll set the visit time with whichever of you you'd like.
- The bills come to you. Keep your card on file, or have each invoice emailed to you. Prepay a year (4 visits) and save 10%, and your parent never sees a bill.
- You see every visit. Your online account shows what we did, which filters we replaced, and anything we noticed, like an alarm that failed its test.
- A familiar face. The same person comes every time, wears shoe covers, and sends a reminder the day before.
